"Quoting one is plagiarism... quoting many is research"
This, my philosophy, as I have done "Words of Wisdom" for the past 12 years. The history of "Words of Wisdom" started this way. O'Neill was traveling during the week. Back then he was doing "The Great Outdoors Show" (now "O'Neill Outside"). I would go along, read the paper or put on my makeup, just so I'd be on the same sleep schedule as O'Neill. Before long, I was answering the phone. Then I got up the nerve to open the microphone on occasion to dispense some knowledge to O'Neill.


Now, regarding the name I am referred to on the show, WomanWilliams; it's not just "woman"... it's a one-word name -"WomanWilliams". The origin of the name began back in the beginning of O'Neill's TV career. He had a great cameraman who either couldn't remember my first name or just didn't want to use it - it was a term of endearment. The name just stuck. I have no problem with it. I don't think it lessens my identity as a woman - I know who I am. So you can call me WomanWilliams or you can just call me Gail; and yes, it's true... my maiden name is also Williams.

  • Don’t worry about avoiding temptation. As you grow older, it will avoid you.

  • Maybe it’s true that life begins at fifty, but everything else starts to
         wear out, fall apart, or spread out.

  • By the time a man is wise enough to watch his step, he’s too old to go anywhere.

  • Everyday is a beautiful day, don’t think so?  Just try missing one.

  • Just because you are a character doesn’t mean you have character.

  • Laughter is the cosmic language of the universe.
